~~~~R&I~~~~
"Maura, I hope you're not expecting us to sing 'Happy Birthday'?” Frankie asked hesitantly, handing his present to Maura. Behind him the rest of Boston's beat cops and the Boston Homicide squad seemed to hold their breaths, looking and waiting for the Medical Examiner to give them an answer.
Remembering the catastrophe that had happened at Jane's birthday earlier this year was enough for Maura to shake her head “no”. She had to admit that alcohol had played a big part in it, when they started singing an obscene version of “Happy Birthday” she immediately knew that she would need to avoid having them sing at her birthday, just to be safe.
Maura was pulled out of reminiscing when she heard Frost shout, “Doc! Remember to blow out the candle and make a wish.”
Another voice yelled out, “What are you talking about Frost? The Doc already got her wish, she has Rizzoli wrapped around her little finger. You broke a lot of hearts Doc.”
Watch it Davis, you're talking about my girlfriend and I don't appreciate that most of the Boston Police Department were pining for my girl at some point.”
Shaking her head Maura held her hand out to her girlfriend, gesturing her to take it, “Jane be nice, Officer Davis is just expressing what most males think about when they see any appealing female. Studies show that when males finding an appealing female their bra-”
Immediately Maura was cut off by Jane, “Maura, no being the human Google today, make a wish and blow out the candle.”
Sighing Maura leaned over and was about to blow the candle out when she felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist. Grinning like and idiot Maura leaned back and turned her head slightly and placed tender kiss on Jane's cheek, before whispering into Jane's ear, “I already have my wish and that's you Jane Rizzoli, but for the sake of tradition I better blow out the candle.” Leaning over Maura blew out the candle.
The room erupted into random clapping and cheering ensued as the flame went out. Fortunately for both Jane and Maura, there co-workers finally left them. Both women let out a relieved sighs as the others moved away leaving the two women in their own little bubble.
Happy birthday Maura. I love you.” Jane whispered into Maura's ear.
Still grinning like an idiot Maura turned to face Jane and wrapped her arms around Jane's neck, leaning forward she placed a passionate yet loving kiss upon Jane's lips. They stayed like that for several seconds before Maura pulled away and leaned her head against Jane's. Gazing into her lover's eyes Maura replied, “Thank your for this. I love you so much.”
Jane couldn't help, but smile when she heard Maura's words of 'I love you' and was about lean in for another kiss, her hand ready to make its journey under Maura's designer top when she was interrupted by none other than the matriarch of the Rizzoli clan .
Jane Rizzoli, have you no shame! Remove your hand at once you're going to embarrass Maura in front of your colleagues.”
Groaning Jane pulled away from her girlfriend and looked at her mother and said sarcastically, “Evening Ma, I just wishing my girlfriend a happy birthday, you always told me to make a grand gesture.”
Watch you tone young lady and as for grand gestures a kiss would suffice, the rest you can do in the privacy of home,” scolded Angela before turning to Maura and pulling the doctor into firm hug, “Happy birthday Maura, I'm sorry that Frank and I were late, the last job took him a bit longer than we anticipated.”
Maura returned the older woman's hug and said, “Thank you for coming and no need to apologize I know how busy Frank is. I'm just glad the both of you were able to make it, isn't that right Jane?” Maura said as she looked at her girlfriend, who had a scowl on her face.
Jane a bit upset with her mother's interruption gave Maura a small nod and said, “I'm going to get myself a beer, you want anything Ma, Maura?
No thank you, maybe later.” Maura replied.
No thank you dear, I'll give Maura some company. Jane if you find your father have him come and wish Maura a Happy Birthday.” Angela replied.
Will do Ma, just give me a holler if you need anything,” said Jane before leaning to give Maura another loving kiss, “I love you.”
Jane waved her hand at her girlfriend and mother before disappearing into the crowd.
~~~~R&I~~~~
Jane made her way over to the bar where they found Frank, Frankie, Frost, Korsak, and three unknown men talking about baseball and the Boston Red Sox.

Jane walked up to the group of men and made their presence know.

Hey Pop, I'm glad you and Ma were able to make it.” Jane said as she gave her father a hug.

Returning his daughter's hug, “I wouldn't miss this, so where's the birthday girl?”

Releasing herself from her father's hug she pointed over shoulder to where she left Maura, “Ma's with Maura they should be over by the birthday cake, why don't you give them some company?”

Frank nodded his head and excused himself from the group.

I think we'll join your father Jane, it's her birthday, I think we can handle her being the human Google for a few minutes,” said Korsak as he gestured Frost and Frankie to follow him.

Shaking her head Jane looked at the two unfamiliar men, probably rookie officers, deciding that it would only be the proper thing to do she introduced herself.

Detective Jane Rizzoli Boston Homicide and you fellas are?” Jane asked the three men.

Nice to meet you detective, name is Officer Pete Glass and this is my partner Officer Doug Mathis.

Holding her hand out she shook the two officers hands, but their attention was soon distracted when they looked behind Jane.

Wow! Who's that?” asked Officer Glass.

Jane replied, “That's our Medical Examiner, Dr. Maura Isles. She's my gir-”

Jane was interrupted by Officer Mathis' voice, “That woman sure struts around like she needs to be bent over a desk. Wonder if she's up having some fun, if you know what mean.”

Jane was in the middle of downing her beer when she heard Mathis' words, she slammed her beer bottle on the bar top and glared at the beat cop, “Watch your mouth Mathis, that's my girlfriend you talking about and I don't appreciate your vulgar comments.”

Mathis just ignored Jane. “Pete, you and me could have some fun with her.”

Grinning Glass responded, “With a rack and ass like that, there's no doubt in my mind that hot piece is an animal in the sack.”

Anger started to surface and Jane growled, “The both you better shut the hell up!”

Still the two men ignored Jane's warning, “Too bad Marco and Kurt aren't here, I bet they would love to have a piece of her.” Mathis said.

That being the last straw Jane stood to her full height and grounded out, “Why don't you take your vulgar comments elsewhere?” The bartender who was oblivious to the whole situation placed two draft beers in front of Glass and Mathis. The two men were about reach for their drinks when Jane shoved the drafts out of their reach, “They've had enough.”

Before Jane knew what was happening, Mathis twisted her arm behind her back and gruffly said,
Watch your mouth bitch! We'll say whatever we want about the slut doctor.”

On pure instinct, Jane aimed and stomped her foot into Mathis' shin. Mathis' grip loosened and gave Jane plenty of time turn to drive a K.O punch to the man's gut.

Jane had a satisfying smirk on her lips as she watched Mathis hit the ground, but the victory was short-lived when a fist connected with her gut. “You'll pay for that bitch!”

Gasping for air Jane tried to get away from Glass when she heard her partner's voice, “Back off, Glass!”

Frost tackled Glass sending both men to the ground. Frost was trying to get the upper hand, but was unsuccessful. Glass was able to stand and picked Frost up and shoved him against the bar and proceeded to punch him.

Jane on the other hand was still trying to gain her breath when she felt someone grab her from behind, “I'm going to enjoy having fun with your slut tonight Detective Rizzoli.” Mathis said.

Expecting to be shoved against the bar like her partner she prepared herself for a beating when suddenly she saw her brother pulling Mathis away from her and saw her ex-partner pulling Glass away from Frost.

Both Frankie and Korsak shoved the two rookie cops against the wall.

The two of you can say goodbye to your badges. Assaulting two officers of the law is a big no-no.” Korsak said.

Both Mathis and Glass finally stopped resisting after hearing Korsak's words, knowing that they just made the biggest mistake of their lives.

Frankie let's get these two handcuffed to the railing and then call for officer assistants,” order Korsak.

Frankie nodded his head and roughly moved Mathis, “Move it!”

Jane let out a relieved sigh and looked over at her partner, “You alright Frost?”

Frost nodded his head, “Yeah, I've been through worse, but damn Glass sure packs a punch.”

Jane nodded her head and leaned heavily against the bar, closing her eyes when she heard a panicked voice.

Jane! Oh my goodness! Are you alright? What did they do you?”

Opening her eyes she came face to face with her panicked girlfriend. Seeing her girlfriend worrying over her caused Jane to smile. Despite the pain Jane lifted her hands up and placed them on Maura's cheeks and pulled Maura into a tender kiss, to calm her love. “I'm alright Maura, those two assholes thought it would be fun making vulgar comments about you. They decided to pick a fight when I told them beat it.”

Language Jane.” Maura mumbled.

Sorry.” Jane replied.

Maura didn't say anything, instead she wrapped her arms around Jane's waist which caused Jane wince in pain. Immediately Maura pulled away and proceeded to exam Jane's stomach area. Lifting Jane's shirt she gently ran her hands over the soft skin looking for anything out of the ordinary. After about a minute, Maura was relieved that she didn't find anything broken, but found that Jane would be sporting some new bruises.

No broken bones,” said Maura. Stepping closer to her girlfriend, Maura gently wrapped her arm around Jane's waist and helped her stand. Slowly she guided Jane towards the front door, ready to go home. It was then that Maura noticed the two handcuffed officers.
Are these the two?” Maura asked. She saw Jane give a her a vigorous nod, seeing that she guided Jane to lean against the wall next to the front door and turned and looked at the two officers. Reaching into her designer purse she took out a single glove, without a second thought Maura used the glove and slapped the two officers.

Bitch! What the hell?” yelled Glass.

That's for insulting me and for attacking my girlfriend,” said Maura as she put the glove back into her bag, “and watch your language.”

Turning away Maura walked over to Jane who was sporting a mischievous grin and she watched Maura.

What's with the grin Jane?” Maura asked as she wrapped her arm around Jane's waist.

Leaning in to Maura, Jane dropped the level of her voice into flirtatious tone and said, “That was hot. Maybe I should get beat up more often.”

This caused Maura to blush, but was able to reply calmly, “You're impossible, you know that.”
Seeing her girlfriend blush Jane planted a kiss on her girlfriend's friend.

I love you Maura and happy birthday.”
